Team Supporters

Our organization could not run successfully without the support of volunteers. When you register your athlete for Carmel Swim Club, you also make a commitment to volunteer hours each year. CSC volunteers are called “team supporters.”

How To Get Involved

Families with athletes on Carmel Swim Club will be notified when team support opportunities are available. You will use your account login information, created at registration, to sign up for jobs. If you are interested in supporting the team and do not have an account, please contact us.

Background Checks

All team support personnel must be registered with USA Swimming, or complete a criminal history report via Safe Hiring Solutions. Background check reports on file with Carmel Clay Schools will be accepted if not expired.

Parents/guardians are responsible for providing documentation of background check expiration dates and covering the fees. Reports are valid for three years. Start a background check.

Team Support Requirements

All Carmel Swim Club families are required to provide team support at Carmel Swim Club-hosted meets.

The number of required team support sessions for CSC-hosted meets will be determined and communicated prior to each meet.

Signing Up To Support

Sign-ups are done via Carmel Swim Club’s Team Unify website, and open approximately one month prior to a swim meet. All sign-ups are first come, first served.

Families with USA Swimming Officials should only sign up to provide team support as a USS Official.

Team Support Roles

Timers:

Use a stopwatch to record swim times and write them on timer sheets. Ensure swimmers are in the correct lanes. No experience needed.

Head Timers:

Organize lane timers, check them in, and lead timer meetings if needed. Hand out and collect watches, assist timers, and use backup watches for races. Help train new timers as needed.

Clerk Of Course:

Organize swimmers aged 8 & under to ensure they are in the correct event, heat, and lane. Introduce meet procedures to first-time swimmers and help keep events running smoothly.

Hospitality:

Run the food and drink area for coaches and officials. Set up, serve, and replenish snacks and drinks, including delivering items to deck workers.

Security:

Monitor access to the pool deck and ensure everyone’s safety. Remind kids not to run on the pool deck, greet visitors and spectators, and answer any questions they may have.

Runners:

Deliver and post swim results quickly. Prioritize meet announcers, coaches, and officials. Post timelines and heat sheets and make copies as needed.

Awards:

Attach labels to ribbons, medals, or plaques, and either place in a designated team envelope or present to the swimmer on the awards podium.

Officials:

Ensure fair competition during meets. For certified USA Swimming officials only. If you are interested in becoming an official, please contact us.

Team Support Check-in:

Check in team supporters during swim meet sessions.

Apparel Sales:

Distribute pre-ordered apparel as needed, and sell meet apparel during swim meets.

Concessions:

Assist with organizing, selling, and restocking concession items at CSC-hosted meets at Carmel High School.

Committee Chair Positions

For supporters who are interested in a higher level of responsibility during meets, Carmel Swim Club has several swim meet committee chair positions that lead their respective positions during swim meets.

Chair members are responsible for communicating with the Program Director and Club Office Manager the number of positions and shifts needed for team support for each team hosted meet.

Read more about the Committee Chair Positions. If you have questions, please email Program Director, Kayla Griffin at kgriffin@carmelswimclub.org

We’re Stronger With You

Our athletes work hard to be the best swimmers — and all-around humans — they can be, but pursuing greatness takes a team effort. Support from parents, friends, and mentors of our athletes means the world to Carmel Swim Club, and we hope you’ll join us.

If you have any questions about how to start supporting the club, please get in touch.
